Fondazione Aldini Valeriani

The Fondazione Aldini Valeriani was set up by the City Council, the Chamber of Commerce and the Employers Confederation of Bologna to create a centre of excellence for the development of technical culture.
Recognised as an authoritative point of reference for initiatives that valorise technical and technological specialisations as promoters of culture and development, the Fondazione is involved in all levels of education, from initial orientation and integrated learning paths for schools to higher, post-diploma training and continuous and life-long learning.

With a 100-seat lecture theatre, 8 teaching and 8 IT laboratories and one of the most advanced and complete multimedia facilities in the country, the Fondazione is able to offer highly applied training aimed at realising an ideal balance between theory and practice, knowledge and know-how.
Services and tools for materials and product testing are also available.

Historically, the Fondazione’s activities have concentrated on advanced mechanics, mechatronics, industrial automation, electronics and electro-technics. In response to the needs of the local economy, leading specialisations now also include information technology, safety at work, and the new techno-media, providing both training content and a methodology to experiment innovative teaching practice and promote technical culture.

The synergies with schools to support both the entry of young people into employment and companies’ access to well-trained personnel are of particular importance. The Fondazione acts as a link between schooling and the world of work within a network of relations and collaboration including educational establishments, local companies, public-sector institutions and authorities.
In an area which sees technical expertise as the essential strength of its companies and its industrial districts of excellence, maintaining competitiveness and leadership is strictly tied to the quality of human resources and the ability to create networks, even of small and medium enterprises.
More than ever before, in the face of the challenges of internationalisation and the growing difficulties in recruiting qualified technical personnel, the Fondazione Aldini Valeriani is convinced that sustaining companies in their innovation and development must imply broad and in-depth promotion and valorisation of technical culture, the realisation of sectoral plans and industry projects, and support in the design and management of training programmes that optimise access to sources of funding. On the basis of a consolidated and efficient network of relations with high-profile partners and institutions, the Fondazione Aldini Valeriani can play a systemic role, bringing together funding bodies, employer and employee representatives, individual companies, schools, research centres, and experts from various sectors, in order to guarantee maximum integration between available resources in technical training (actors, funds, projects) and serve as the technical heart of its local environment.
